Gaia ("the App") is owned and developed by Hector Alberto Diaz Gomez, operating under the laws of Peru ("Developer," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, and protection of information when you use our speech-to-speech translation application. By using Gaia, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Audio Data: When you use Gaia's translation features, we collect and process your voice recordings to provide speech-to-speech translation services. This audio data is transmitted to Microsoft Azure AI services for transcription and translation.

Translation Data: We store your conversation history, including source text, translated text, and language pairs used. This helps provide you with access to your past conversations.

Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication data (via Firebase Authentication) to manage your account and conversation history.

Device Information: We may collect basic device information such as device type, operating system, and app version to improve app functionality and troubleshoot issues.

Location Data: We may collect general location data (country/region) to provide appropriate language defaults and comply with regional requirements.

Provide Translation Services: Your audio recordings are processed through Microsoft Azure AI to provide real-time speech-to-speech translation.

Improve Service Quality: We may use aggregated, anonymized data to improve translation accuracy, train better speech recognition models, and enhance the overall user experience.

Maintain Conversation History: Your translations are stored in Firebase to allow you to review past conversations.

Communication: We may use your email address to send important service updates, security alerts, or respond to your inquiries.

Microsoft Azure AI: We use Microsoft Azure AI services for speech recognition, translation, and text-to-speech conversion. Your audio data is transmitted to Azure's servers for processing. Azure's privacy policy applies to this data processing: https://privacy.microsoft.com

Google Firebase: We use Firebase for authentication, database storage, and app analytics. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Data is only shared with these service providers to the extent necessary to provide our services.

Security Measures: We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Data Retention: We retain your conversation history and account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual conversations or your entire account at any time through the app settings.

Audio Data: Voice recordings are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored by us after transcription is complete. Azure AI may temporarily retain audio for processing purposes according to their retention policies.

Access and Control: You can access, update, or delete your account information and conversation history through the app settings at any time.

Data Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. To delete your account and all associated data, use the "Delete Account" option in app settings or contact us at hector.diaz@pucp.edu.pe.

Opt-Out: You can opt out of certain data collection by not creating an account (conversations will not be saved) or by limiting app permissions on your device.

Gaia is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at hector.diaz@pucp.edu.pe, and we will delete such information from our systems.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Peru, where the developer, Hector Alberto Diaz Gomez, maintains principal operations. We comply with applicable data protection laws in Peru and strive to meet international privacy standards.

For users in the European Union or other regions with specific privacy regulations, we respect your rights under GDPR and similar frameworks, including rights to access, rectification, and erasure of personal data.
